Attention As Resistance - A Wider Circle
It’s February.
You’ve just made it through the longest January you can remember.
How can you best show up for yourself and your communities?
How can mindful attention support both personal wellbeing and collective action?
Hello fellow human!
You are invited to a Focused Circle Share on Thursday, February 20th at 7:30 pm ET, where our theme will be “Attention as Resistance”.
In times of societal upheaval and information overwhelm, where we place our attention can become an act of resistance. The nervous system responds in a dysregulated manner to this constant barrage of concerning news, propaganda, rhetoric, etc. THIS IS BY DESIGN.
Shock doctrine definition: political actors exploit the chaos of natural disasters, wars, and other crises to push through unpopular policies such as deregulation and privatization.
While we want to honor the feelings that come up as we drift through this mire of overwhelm, we also want to move beyond the feelings into a space of positive and actual resistance.
In this circle share, we will explore how intentional focus can be a tool for empowerment:
How can we best show up for ourselves and our communities?
How can mindful attention support both personal wellbeing and collective action?
You are also invited to share this invitation with others in your network. We welcome all deep divers, truth seekers, big dreamers, and creative catalysts!

New to Circle? You can learn more about the practice of circling here.
The light flucture of these events—a portmanteau of “light flow plan / structure”—consists of introducing the theme and the digital altar, opening and closing meditations to ground and center us, reading aloud of the Circle Guidelines, an introduction of the current prompt, and then space in the center to hold us all as we practice sharing our truth.
